BACKGROUND

The South-South Youth Leaders Forum, is a proactive youth group and the Mother of all non-violent youth groups in Niger Delta Region of Nigeria.

As a group we have strong quest for quality leadership and good governance, especially through the instrumentality of a credible, transparent, free and fair electoral process.

We are in full agreement with the entire stake holders in the Nigeria polity calling for a serious reform in our electoral process. However we are also of the view that a conscious reform of the electorate is key.

It is in this vain that we have designed programmes for the constant orientation, and mass enlightenment of the electorate especially the youths which form over 70% of the VOTERS STRENGTH in Nigeria. Our major aim is to unequivocally call for active civil participation by youths in our electoral processes in Nigeria.

Consequently, as youth we have come to the realisation of the fact that the future is ours, and that we are trustees of posterity as well as direct beneficiaries of a well reformed electoral process in Nigeria.

We have also realised the fact that youths have a major role to play in ensuring total reformation of any electoral system in the world, and thereby contributing to NATION BUILDING, we are now more ready than ever to contribute our bit to in sustaining a credible electoral process in our dear Country.

Finally, we wish to call on all responsible and responsive Nigerians, to support us even as we are ready to strategically channel our energy in making Nigeria a Grate Nation by the enthronement of a people oriented Government, for the fist time in history.

We saw it happen in the United States of America in 2008, when over 6.5million persons under the age of 30yr voted in the Presidential Primaries, which finally caused a major change in their polity, hence that election was tagged "The Year of the Youth Vote". We are set to duplicate this trend in Nigeria!

We remain very committed in our struggle to transform the image of Nigeria.

Signed

Amachree Odiedim Esq.
